This fall the FoodBank of Santa Barbara County is busy hosting events for Santa Barbara County residents who want to get involved and give back to the community! All of the events are fun opportunities where guests can enjoy delicious food and contribute to good causes that support health and food awareness in Santa Barbara County.
First up this month is the FoodBank’s 6th Annual Table of Life Gala on Saturday, October 14 from 4-8 p.m.
The gala is at a beautiful Montecito estate, and features hors d’oeuvres, wine, cocktails, dinner, music, dancing and a silent auction! The goal is to raise $250,000 to support hungry children whose health is impacted by poor nutrition, childhood diabetes, obesity and lack of food literacy.
The FoodBank is honoring Jeff Bridges, Academy Award-winning actor, for his service to the mission of No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit working to end child hunger in America. Proceeds from this event support the nutritional health of the Santa Barbara community by building the next generation of culinary talent and funding FoodBank nutrition programs for children.

The FoodBank of Santa Barbara County is also hosting the 16th Annual Santa Maria Empty Bowls on Wednesday, October 25 at Santa Maria Fairpark (937 S. Thornburg St., Santa Maria), with two seatings at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Guests choose a handmade ceramic bowl—the bowl is for a lunch of soup and bread, and is also a take-home gift. All proceeds benefit hunger relief and nutrition education programs of the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County.
Santa Maria Empty Bowls features a raffle that includes a selection of wines, restaurant and entertainment certificates, jewelry, and much more—something for everyone! Purchase tickets for this event online, or by phone at 805/937-3422 ext. 104.
This is a community event with goals of ending hunger and raising awareness about food scarcity issues. Local restaurants donate delicious fresh soup and bread, and guests savor the meal in one-of-a-kind bowls created by local ceramicists.
After lunch, guests are treated to coffee and dessert while touring the FoodBank next door. It is also a chance to learn about more ways to get involved with future events and volunteer opportunities.
For a ticket donation of $30, guests enjoy a simple soup meal and choose a beautiful handmade bowl to take home as a reminder of the meal’s purpose to feed the hungry in our community.
Proceeds help fill shelves, fund community programs and fuel trucks that deliver food throughout Santa Barbara County. For every $1 donated, the FoodBank provides eight nutritious meals.
