After an extensive remodel, Lynda & Bruce’s Riviera Theatre (2044 Alameda Padre Serra) is re-opening as the new home of SBIFF’s year round programming. The theatre will have a soft opening with a seven day run of the restored 1960 classic French thriller LE TROU starting September 8 with show times at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Directed by Jacques Becker, this restoration is a 1960 classic. Four men in La Santé Prison decide to execute a prison break and are forced to bring on a fifth member, Claude Gaspard (Marc Michel) when he is assigned to their cell. The thrilling escape is based on actual events, and are rendered in painstaking detail as the five men dream of freedom. The film is in French with English subtitles.
The new Riviera Theatre will operate seven days a week as an art-house programmed exclusively by SBIFF. The annual two week Santa Barbara International Film Festival will still occur at the usual downtown Santa Barbara venues.
Tickets are on sale now here. See you at the movies!
