The concert opens with Próxima Parada, a band from San Luis Obispo who released their third album earlier this year. Próxima Parada blends soulful rhythm and blues melodies with folk elements, taking lessons from contemporaries like Lake Street Dive and Vulfpeck, or classic artists like Bob Dylan and The Band. Their performances span from unadorned acoustic to floor-stomping dance party jams.
Headlining the night is Reverend Tall Tree, who plays original blues and American roots music, following the methods of Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf, Bo Diddley and others. In addition to his own headlining tours, Reverend Tall Tree (also known as singer-songwriter Chris Pierce) has opened worldwide shows and tours for such artists as B.B. King, Al Green, Toots and the Maytals, Jon Butcher, Sonia Dada, Seal and more. Other members of Reverend Tall Tree include upright bassist Dr. Cooper, drummer and percussionist Professor Lovejoy, guitarist Ol T’ Parker and guitarist Sam Meek.
All ages are welcome to the show and children under the age of ten are admitted for free. Regionally inspired, seasonal food will be available. Presqu’ile Amphitheatre has abundant seating but please feel free to bring your own chairs and blankets. Doors at open 5 p.m., and club member entry opens at 4:30 p.m.
