Get ready for a night of groovin’ out to some R&B tunes! Grammy award winner Bobby Brown and No. 1 R&B hit producers Tony! Toni! Toné! are co-headlining at the Chumash Casino Resort on Friday, August 25.
Bobby Brown’s career started early at the age of nine as member and founder of the R&B and pop group New Edition. Brown parted ways in 1985 and started a solo career with the release of his debut album King of Stage. This album served home to his first No. 1 hit “Girlfriend.” His second album, Don’t Be Cruel, was released in 1988 and became a huge success. The album included the well-known single “My Prerogative” and the Grammy Award-winning hit “Every Little Step,” which would eventually become Brown’s signature song.
Between 1986 and 1993, Brown had a string of top ten hits on various Billboard charts, as well as released his third album Bobby in 1992. Released during the final days of the new jack swing era, an era that Brown had dominated, the album became a huge success. More than 3 million copies were sold and the album’s track “Humpin’ Around” earned him his second Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Brown has released two additional studio albums, collaborated with top talent such as Macy Gray, has made multiple appearances on television and in films, and is now touring the nation with Tony! Toni! Toné!
The Oakland-based R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné! is made up of brothers Dwayne and Raphael Wiggins and their cousin Timothy Christian. They debuted in 1988 with their album Who? One of the tracks, “Little Walter,” became a No.1 R&B hit right out of the box and the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The group released their second album The Revival in 1990. The album included signature hits “Feels Good,” “Whatever You Want,” “The Blues” and “It Never Rains (In Southern California).” All four tracks went on to become No. 1 hits on the Billboard charts.
Don’t miss out on this funky collab at 8 p.m at the Samala Showroom. Chumash Casino Resort is located on on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez, California. Tickets for the show are available online.
