Summer is the time for beach trips, picnics and family time. But instead of taking your blankets, low-to-the-ground beach chairs, picnic meals and friends to the beach, bring them to the Courthouse lawn during this summer’s FREE film series, 007: Bond, James Bond

Kicking off the eight-film cinema series of the James Bond Classics, is Dr. No. on Wednesday, July 5, at 7:30 p.m. at UCSB’s Campbell Hall, followed by another screening on Friday, July 7, at 8:30 p.m. under the stars at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse’s Sunken Garden.

This first film of the James Bond Series introduced the world to one of the most enduring figures of Western cinema, and it established the franchise’s definitive humor, action, escapes and thrills. Sean Connery stars as British super-spy agent, James Bond (codename 007), and is sent to the Caribbean to investigate the death of a fellow British operative. On his journey, Bond is forced to confront the villainous scientist Dr. No with the help of a beautiful seashell peddler named Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress).
