Carr Winery presents the July featured artist, Jon Carr, as part of its ongoing Summer Art Series. The “Pulpo Series” will run from July 8 – August 11, with an opening artist reception on Saturday, July 8, from 6-9 p.m.
Carr, the younger brother of winemaker Ryan Carr, was raised in Carpinteria and is a man of many talents: artist, musician and bartender. Jon has a BA in Studio Art from San Francisco State University with an emphasis in sculpture and his art has been featured in numerous venues in the San Francisco area.
Along with his artistic skills, music runs through Jon’s veins. His first band, Cosmic Revelators, gained significant recognition from the Santa Barbara Independent. His current rock n’ roll band, Down and Outlaws, has just released their first album, Above Snakes, at the reputable Studio 606.
When Jon is not creating art or making music you can find him at the hottest bar in San Francisco, Brass Tacks mixing and serving cocktails to the locals.
This Saturday, July 8, Jon returns to his hometown to showcase his newest series ~PULPO. Meet the artist and enjoy Carr wines by the glass at the opening reception at Carr Winery, 414 N. Salsipuedes St.
Carr Winery produces 4,500 cases a year, and the Carrs produce, barrel, and bottle all their wines right in the heart of Santa Barbara—in a repurposed Quonset hut, which they have made into one of the hippest, most sought-after tasting rooms in the region. When the winery is not in full swing for harvest, the spacious, cave like space with high curved ceilings and outdoor patio lends itself perfectly to art shows, live music and private events.
