Music Academy of the West Brings NPR’s From the Top to Santa Barbara

Music Academy of the West presents a live taping of the popular NPR show From the Top on Thursday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Hahn Hall (1070 Fairway Rd.) The radio program, hosted by pianist Christopher O’Riley, showcases amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from across the country.

The taping will feature fellows from the Music Academy of the West. It will also feature a world premiere by composer Conrad Tao. Performers include 20-year-old pianist Michael Davidman performing from the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Sonata No. 2; 20-year-old oboist Tanavi Prabhu performing the first movement of the Poulenc Oboe Sonata; and 19-year-old violist Erin Pitts performing the world premiere of Conrad Tao’s Asymptotes.

This program will broadcast on stations nationwide and by podcast in the Fall.
