Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club Kicks Off 2017 Season

The Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club begins its 2017 season Saturday, May 7 at Engel and Völkers Polo Stadium (3375 Foothill Rd., Carpinteria) kicking off a summer full of thrilling competition and special events. The season begins will 12 Goal Series throughout May and June followed by the exciting 16 Goal Series throughout July and August. The season ends with the 8 Goal Series spanning throughout September and October. In addition to these tournaments, there will be a series of Youth Polo Tournaments throughout the summer to encourage a love of the sport throughout all age ranges.

In addition to the classic thrills, there will be new additions including a Friday Happy Hour, Sunday Polo and Polo After Hours. Friday Happy Hour will occur throughout the season from 4 – 6 p.m. (May 5 – Sept. 29) in the Club. The Club has partnered with Nimita’s Cuisine to offer a scrumptious menu of small plates and appetizers that pair excellently with cocktails, wine and beer from the bar.

Beginning on Sunday, May 7, the fan favorite Sunday Polo main match will return. The check-in time begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Engel & Võlkers Polo Stadium with the Pony Parade, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, team introductions and the ball throw at 3 p.m. Sunday Polo is open to the general public.

New to the season is “Polo After Hours,” a social gathering beginning immediately after the trophy presentation at Sunday Polo. After Hours will take place in the main clubhouse where guests can enjoy live entertainment and music from DJ Fab and dancing. The bar will remain open offering signature cocktails and drinks.
