Sullivan Goss (11 E. Anapamu St.) is bringing a taste of the historic L.A. art scene to its Santa Barbara gallery in time for summer. Their exhibition L.A. in S.B. is on display from Thursday, June 1 through Sunday, July 30.
Los Angeles serves as the historic focal point of several art movements from the 20th century, which contributes to its extensive network of galleries, museums and collectors. Of course, the film industry—and Disney in particular—were also instrumental in growing a visual arts culture in L.A. Through L.A. in S.B., Sullivan Goss digs through their inventory to compose some more context towards understanding Los Angeles’s emergence as a global art capital.
Over the past 33 years, Sullivan Goss has mounted at least 40 solo exhibitions for L.A. artists, as well as nine thematic exhibitions devoted to the area. Artists featured in L.A. in S.B. include Anders Aldrin, Edgar Ewing, Lorser Feitelson, Anya Fisher and more.
Opening night is on First Thursday, June 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visit sullivangoss.com to learn more.
