Creating magical moments and fostering philanthropic endeavors are pursuits that Milt Larsen and George Burtness have always sought. These men’s daily ventures to light up the community will soon be represented perpetually through Lobero Theatre’s own internal nightly ghost light.

“Magic” Milt Larsen sees magic grace a Santa Barbara stage every year—for 20 years running now—while producing the live stage revue It’s Magic! Larsen brings this fantastic show to Lobero Theatre annually—he founded Magic Castle in 1963, a world-famous private club for magicians. With this intimate connection to the world of magic, Larsen continues to bring awe and wonder to audiences.

George Burtness epitomizes an altruistic individual. For his work in environmental conservation, arts enhancement and preservation and health betterment, Burtness makes an indelible impression on Santa Barbara. Burtness donates much of his free time and selfless talent to support many worthy nonprofits, including Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Historical Museum and even serving as board president for Sansum Diabetes Research Institute and Lobero Theatre Foundation.

Because of these men’s invaluable contributions to the Santa Barbara area, Lobero Ghostlight Society proudly inducts these two leaders as representative Luminaries in an upcoming, private event set for April 23. The Ghostlight Society celebrates these Santa Barbara legends for their manifold accomplishments in an evening that will begin with a cocktail reception and proceed with presentations from Richard M. Sherman (of the famous Sherman Brothers songwriting team) and members of Larsen’s own Magic Castle of Hollywood.

For questions concerning the attendance of this 5 p.m., April 23 event, call Lobero Theatre Ghostlight Society at 805/679-6007.
