Want to enjoy a relaxing day of soft rock, excellent wine and a plethora of homemade chili recipes? The Buellton Wine (Craft Beer) and Chili Festival returns March 19 at noon for its fourth year running. The event takes place at the gorgeous Flying Flags RV Resort (180 Avenue of the Flags, Buellton), and attendees can enjoy some of the best chili, wine and brews on the Central Coast. Live music is provided by The Caverns and Dusty Jugz.
This year marks a spicy change for the event, as Buellton’s venue is now qualified to host an official International Chili Society and Community Challenge Cook-off. Cooks entering the International Chili Society will be battling to produce the best red chili, chili verde and chili salsa. Winners in each category will take home a cash prize. The Community Challenge Cook-off will also provide cash prizes for the top three chili recipes.
Should attendants become thirsty, samples from over 25 wineries, craft breweries and spirit companies will be present. Local wineries in attendance include: Terravant Wine Company, Standing Sun, Kalyra, Margerum Wine Company, Sevtap Winery and Bottlest. Beer will be provided by Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. and Firestone Walker Brewing Co., among others.
Admission tickets include a souvenir wine glass, unlimited wine and craft beer (age 21+), chili tastings, live entertainment and more. Tickets are also available for guests under 21 who want to sample chili and have a good time (minors must be accompanied by an adult). Children under 12 are free. After so much great food and drink, be sure to enjoy some of the games available at the venue: bocce ball, horse shoes, table tennis, mega sized beer pong and corn hole.
