The 2017 Santa Barbara International Film Festival will begin with a viewing of CHARGED on February 1 at 8 p.m.at The Arlington Theatre (1317 State St.).

The Opening Night Film, CHARGED is a captivating film directed by Philip Baribeau that follows that shocking journey of a chef and outdoorsman Eduardo Garcia. The film closely follows Garcia’s mental, emotional, and physical recovery after being electrocuted by 2,400 volts of electricity miles away from in the secluded Montana backcountry. Garcia physically lost a lot – he had his hand amputated, lost ribs, muscle mass and nearly his life but what he gained is what makes the story of CHARGED gripping.
