The Carpinteria Arts Center (855 Linden Ave.) is hosting a fun, family oriented event for its Building a Home for the Arts campaign on Sunday, October 23 from 3–5:30 p.m. with a special unveiling at 4 p.m.
Extensive planning has taken place behind the scenes of this event. The Carpinteria Arts Center has purchased and revamped the 2,600 square foot building, formerly the Cajun Kitchen, alongside the facilitation of community efforts to raise their $3.1 million goal by the end of 2017.
“The chance to purchase the Cajun Kitchen building was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity we simply could not ignore,” says David Powdrell, co-chair of the Carpinteria Arts Center. “We are well on our way to raising the funds needed, but to reach our goal we still need the support of everyone in the Carpinteria and South Coast communities to make Carpinteria one of the best small town arts communities in the country.”
With this new campaign, the Carpinteria Arts Center seeks to provide educational opportunities for children and adults in multiple aspects of the arts and to foster diverse community involvement.
The Building a Home for the Arts event will feature kid friendly activities including art activities, food, music and beverages including fun, art themed cocktails. Visit this weekend to celebrate and support the local community.
