CHALK4PEACE participates in UN/DC Draw the World Together Tour from September 16-23. More than 200 CHALK4PEACE events are held worldwide this fall in order to help draw the world together.
Starting with Student Peace Day at United Nations Headquarters in New York City on September 16, this global interactive artistic expression of peace is an invitational event based upon UN’s Sustainable Development Goal #16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Teams from both California and Washington DC are set to meet to work with 500 student leaders.
From there, they go on to Washington to conduct a global chalk project for peace with Busboys and Poets on International Day of Peace, September 21 from noon-6 p.m. Join them to “draw your own conclusions and speak your Peace,” as well as listen to a reading of My Underground American Dream by Julia Arce later that evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
CHALK4PEACE is a nonprofit organization based in Summerland. With over 800 events in 40 countries, they have covered more than nine miles of pavement with messages and visions of peace in sidewalk chalk. Through the efforts of hundreds of event organizers, teachers, parents and community outreach coordinators, libraries, arts centers and other peace-minded individuals, CHALK4PEACE has grown tremendously.
Join in to help Peace break out.
