“Having advance care planning conversations is a tremendous gift to loved ones as they are more able to ensure that your wishes are being honored when you cannot speak on your own behalf.” – Susan Plummer, Executive Director of Alliance for Living and Dying Well
Santa Barbara’s Alliance for Living and Dying Well works to provide people with a stable environment to make the emotional decisions that come with the quality of life as they approach death. In their mission to do so, the Alliance is happy to announce their 4th Annual Get It Done Today! event on April 14 at the SB Public Library’s Faulkner Gallery (40 E. Anapamu St.) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a free community-wide event to encourage the public to complete Advance Health Care Directives.
This event provides an important opportunity for the community to start the difficult conversation about end-of-life wishes, as well as learn more about the process and take the initiative to complete an Advance Health Care Directive. There will also be professional facilitators, notaries and trained volunteers onsite to facilitate the process of completion. In addition, Cottage Hospital will scan all AHCD documents into patients’ medical records for easier access during critical medical moments.
Appointments for the event are required, so call to reserve a spot at 805/843-5314.
