Inspired by the weekly Ciclovía events in Bogotá, Colombia, the streets of Santa Barbara come alive once again this fall. Becoming the longest public park for the day, more than two miles of Cabrillo Blvd. are transformed into a celebration of people-power to promote better health, flexibility and FUN! Last year, more than 15,000 participants, young and old, enjoyed the streets as they usually can’t—without cars, fumes or traffic‑while exploring eight free community activity zones. Bring your bike, blades, skateboard, stroller, (on-leash) furry friends or just yourself to walk, jog or roll through the street without worrying about cars. Local businesses, artists, performers and restaurants add to the family-friendly excitement, plus participation is free, no registration required. | 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Route is along Cabrillo Blvd. from Andree Clark Bird Refuge to Helena Ave., looping into the Funk Zone along Helena Ave. to Mason St. and back to Cabrillo Blvd. via Anacapa St. sbopenstreets.org.
