National Geographic “ABROAD AT HOME” Book Release and Photo Exhibit Reception, Celebrating Photography of Solvang’s Tenley Fohl
On March 18, Solvang’s Wildling Museum will host a book release for National Geographic’s new travel book, “Abroad at Home,” and a photo exhibit reception celebrating the photography of Solvang’s own Tenley Fohl.
The reception sponsored in part by Visit Santa Ynez Valley will be held from 5-7 p.m. The Book Loft will facilitate sales of the book, and Tenley Fohl Photography photos will also be on view at the museum and available for purchase.
Small bites will be provided by Beullton's Terravant Winery Restaurant in honor of one of Fohl’s photos depicting a dish of their own, which graces the cover of “Abroad at Home,” while Buttonwood Farm Winery and Lucas & Lewellen Estate Wines, two local wineries, will be pouring their wines.
“Abroad at Home” features an introduction by travel expert and National Geographic Travel writer, Robert Reid, and highlights facts about each area in the book along with dialogue from locals describing the unique heritage of the locations.
Fohl’s photography is inspired by her love of the Central Coast, wine country, and her home of 20 years—the Santa Ynez Valley. Tenley Fohl Photography focuses on the region’s vineyards, wines, and foods as well as the businesses behind them and the wine country lifestyle. She captures the inherent nature of moments through still photography that invokes emotion and sense of place.
Just over three years ago, Fohl launched her freelance photography business and has already gathered a robust client list from numerous publications, eateries, wineries, hospitality and travel organizations, as well as entertainment and event outlets. While conducting internet research for “Abroad at Home,” National Geographic discovered Fohl’s pictures, choosing a perfectly plated scallop dish as the book’s cover and including a photo of a windmill in Solvang inside the book.
Tenley Fohl Photography is available for commercial as well as private photography assignments and projects. For more information about Tenley Fohl Photography, please visit tenleyfohlphotography.com.
