Experience a new take on the classic tales A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare and The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry in a performance by dancers of State Street Ballet and theatre students from San Marcos High School.

On Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. in the San Marcos High School Theatre, see the product of the new collaborative dance arts outreach program between San Marcos High School’s Theatre Department, Art Without Limits, and State Street Ballet called Library Dances.

Library Dances aims to make dance more accessible to students. The show itself features original choreography by Cecily Stewart, the founder/director/choreographer of Library Dances, and music by Yann Tiersen and Felix Mendelssohn. San Marcos students participate not only through performance, but also behind the scenes, and they all get the chance to take a technique class where they learn the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance.

Watch the students’ required literature come to life in this fantastic, imaginative show! San Marcos High School is located at 4750 Hollister Ave.

For more details or information on ticket sales for the show or the party, call 805/252-1324 or go to librarydances.org.
