Nobel Peace Prize Winner Muhammad Yunus will be speaking at the ninth annual Westmont College President’s Breakfast on Friday, February 28 from 7 to 9 a.m. at The Fess Parker Doubletree.

Yunus is the first person since Martin Luther King Junior to win the trifecta of the Nobel Peace Prize, the U.S. Presidential Medal and the U.S. Congressional Medal. His work has been driven by the principle that credit is a basic human right. This concept led to his founding of the Grameen Bank in 1976 that would make fair loans to the poor. The micro-credit model has caught on, and now more than 100 countries operate by the Grameen Bank’s standards to help their citizens gain a better quality of life. Yunus is essentially setting out to help empower even the poorest people, and his findings on creating a better world are remarkable.
