We didn’t think it was possible, but Santa Barbara Wine Country just got better!
Crown Point Vineyards, the newest addition to the Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA, has appointed Kentucky-native Adam Henkel as the winemaker for its newly established winery. After crafting eight vintages at Napa Valley‘s Harlan Estate, Henkel is renown for creating profound character-driven wines. “This is the perfect opportunity for me,” says Henkel of the move to Crown Point. “It’s exciting to be at the helm of a young Cabernet-driven winery in the quickly rising Happy Canyon.”
Established in 2012 by founder Roger Bower, Crown Point Vineyards is a 30-acre vineyard located in the eastern hills of the Santa Ynez Valley, and will be crafting ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines that showcase the unique character of the region. “It’s a winemaker’s paradise,” adds Henkel. “The access we have to amazing fruit from both warm and cool climates is truly incredible.” In addition to founding the winery, Bower also purchased Westerly Wines, where Henkel will be tasked with creating a new portfolio of wines featuring varietals specific to the American Viticultural Areas (AVA) of Santa Barbara and Sta. Rita Hills.
