Need an inspiring story to keep you motivated? Let author Hollye Jacobs, the distinguished speaker for the One Hundred Committee Luncheon, warm your soul with her uplifting view of life. The scholarship luncheon, taking place on Thursday, April 25, from 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m., is sponsored by Girls Incorporated (Girls Inc.) of Greater Santa Barbara. Jacobs will also host the Godparent VIP Reception on April 24 from 5–7 p.m.
Jacobs is best known for her blog, The Silver Pen, which details her physical, emotional and spiritual journey through breast cancer. Although still in recovery, Jacobs finds strength and comfort through her family, friends and community. Her “silver linings” approach to cancer radiates through her writing, making her humorous blog posts a unique and inspiring read.
This luncheon, as many other committee fundraisers have in the past, will help Girls Inc. raise money for scholarship funds for young girls in our community. To date, 3.5 million dollars have gone towards these young girls and their futures.
Based in Santa Barbara, Girls Inc. is a nonprofit that provides year-round after-school and summer programs to 1,000 girls each year. It also sponsors other outreach programs throughout the community in hopes of teaching young girls the skills they need to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
