The Peking Acrobats are coming to town! This well-known Chinese group will perform heart-stopping stunts, skilled feats and beautiful acrobatic dances upon the stage of The Granada Theatre at 3 p.m. this Sunday, January 13. They will be accompanied by and share the stage with an orchestra of traditional Chinese instruments.
The Peking Acrobats, whose skills have evolved from a Chinese folk-art form dating back as early as 221 BCE, is a highly respected group due to the difficulty and danger of the maneuvers that they complete. There are roughly 100,000 acrobat students in China. Often these acrobats begin learning their skills at the age of 5 and complete ten or eleven years of personal training before joining a local troupe. This extensive training allows them to tackle such feats as foot juggling, somersaulting, tumbling, balancing and, of course, performing contortionist moves.
The Peking Acrobats are on their 27th annual North American Tour, and have showcased their talents through Australia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and more! Even if you have seen The Peking Acrobats before, you will still be astonished by their new and stunning routines.
Tickets are on sale at the Granada Theatre Box Office (located at 1214 State Street, Santa Barbara), and can also be purchased online or by phone at 805/899-2222.
