Ready for something new and extraordinary? On Wednesday, November 14, the Hospice of Santa Barbara will host local artist James Petrucci in his exhibition entitled beneath the surface. It will take place in the Leigh Block Gallery from 5:30 to 7 p.m., where there will be a wine and cheese open house reception for the new exhibit.
A self-taught artist from Santa Barbara, Petrucci attempts to communicate pure motion with his exhibition, which will feature both landscapes and portraits. His display will express an “inner world without having a person or portrait as a foundation, just a pure emotional state,” describes Petrucci.
Although Petrucci is self-taught, he has had several incredible mentors throughout his career, such as painters Elias Rivera and Susan Contreras. He has showcased his work in many places in the United States, and received the William T. Colville artist grant, as well as the Arts Fund Individual Artist award for two-dimensional work in 2011.
Petrucci plans to donate 25% of the proceeds from his art sales to Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc., which volunteers its free professional counseling and care-management services to more than 500 children and adults who are experiencing the impact of a life-threatening illness or grieving the death of a loved one.
So not only will you be supporting the talented Petrucci and his incredible art, but you will also help out a great organization that aids thousands of people every year. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
