THRIVE Westside is a local organization continuously dedicated to helping local residents achieve success, and thanks to their generous contribution, some Santa Barbara County high school students will spend part of their summer learning how to do just that.
Six San Marcos High School students are the lucky recipients of sponsorships from THRIVE Westside to attend Just Communities‘ Community Leadership Institute (CLI), an eight day summer program in Ojai. Students are carefully selected based on their leadership skills and/or potential, making them affluent members of their high school community. This program helps teach Central Coast youths how to become leaders in their communities, emphasizing diversity and justice within schools. Through this program, these students will learn how to stand up to social pressures and become positive role models to their peers.
Want to be part of helping a local student succeed? Just Communities is still accepting sponsorships from businesses, corporations and individuals for students from Santa Barbara County high schools, including La Cuesta, Dos Pueblos, and Santa Barbara High Schools. Find information here.
