Who better to satirize the upcoming election than former government officials? Democrat or Republic, allegiances don’t matter in Capitol Steps, where every political policy, party and person is on the humor chopping block.
Capitol Steps, presented by the Lobero Theatre, represents 62 years of House and Senate experience, and laughs to show for it. The performers, some former employers of the very people they are discussing, know the ins-and-outs of politics, and they aren’t afraid to make fun of it. Capitol Steps brings a refreshing and hysterical spin on election season, with catchy songs poking fun at topics such as Mitt Romney’s GOP plea and Obama’s taxing. All in all, a night with Capitol Steps, known for putting the “mock” in democracy, provides laughter for all parties, leaving no political issue or official unscathed.
Capitol Steps marks the beginning of the Lobero’s A Series of Wits, with performances on September 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. Don’t miss this hilarious look at election season, through the eyes (and songs) of those who know the government best.
