Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel, Little Women, gets the broadway treatment with PCPA Theaterfest‘s charming production of Little Women: The Broadway Musical. This classic 1868-69 story of family, dreams and sisters doing it for themselves still holds up more than a century later, and setting the tale to music brings the story’s fiesty, high-spirited energy even more to life than the novel.

Karin Hendricks is particularly notable as Jo March, the tomboyish heart of the story (and stand in for Alcott herself), as is Andrew Philpot as Professor Bhaer, the shy intellectual who eventually wins Jo’s heart.

The show continues at Solvang Festival Theater through July 1, and is well worth making the effort to see. For more information call 805/922-8313 or visit www.pcpa.org.
