Santa Barbara Dance Alliance presents Kinesis 2012, a dance concert of contemporary pieces. The showcase will be held on Friday, February 3 and Saturday, February 4 at 8 p.m. at Center Stage Theater. The showcase brings fresh and sophisticated original dance works by local choreographers together to form a progressive artistic experience to Santa Barbara, including Contemporary, Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, Afro-Brazilian and American Modern Dance.
Featured choreographers include Lauren Nicole C. Aranador, Robin Bisio, Kyle Castillo & Lauren Serrano, Nancy Colahan, Christina Corbett, Tenya Cowsill, Carrie Diamond, Rene Garcia, Nicole Helton, Tracy Kofford, Zoey Moses and Thea Vandervoort.
Forgetting to Remember, Silence and Slow Time and K&L/In Tandem are three of the innovative dance pieces to be performed at Kinesis. Forgetting to Remember is based on losing someone close to you and the painful heartache it causes, but also showing that picking up the pieces and moving forward can be just as hard. Silence and Slow Time was developed in cooperation with the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. The dance is informed by the question of how art from the past continues to influence and be influenced by the present. K&L/In Tandem is a dance that represents a relationship that is deeply intimate though not clearly a romance.
